Re: Uprated engine mounts?

Don't do it, stick with Mazda mounts. Maybe I should list the things I wouldn't do to the RX8. Engine mounts Rear diff mounts Stage 2 clutch. I asked for the engine mounts to be replaced only if failed. They were replaced only to find nothing wrong with my originals. The mounts transfer to much vib...

Re: Uprated engine mounts?

A harder engine mount will not make a difference to throttle response as such. People have used lots of different ones and it is also possible to refill old ones to the stiffness you require. Quite a few people have gone to stiff mounts only to find they can be hard to live with and reverted to some...

Re: What is a D585 coil?

What about Black Halo Racing coils? They are apparently the original "D585" coils for the RX-8? I don’t think black halo racing make coils, they use an existing coil. I had to read the post several times myself which is a good idea for people to do. I think it may be in the threads interest to dele...

The holes could have been missed out deliberately so it wasn’t an exact copy
International patent laws are strange or it could be as Dave said
It’s not a big deal anyway as long as you know what to do

Re: Is it worth upgrading the front strut brace? Will it provide any noticeable improvement over the OEM?

A strut brace makes a massive difference on a 1982 Ford Capri ... #completelyirrelevent Can anyone do me a four link kit and Atlas diff for my RX-8 as I think it may improve the handling. And where’s the popcorn ( preferably delivered by one of those girls from the cinema with short skirts ) Or is ...

Re: Is it worth upgrading the front strut brace? Will it provide any noticeable improvement over the OEM?

As PeteH said earlier in the thread about the strut brace possibly having something to do with the crash test. I also think this may be an explanation, I thought about it sometime ago when I considered a second hand one to give me some bling under the bonnet. I was feeling a bit left out when everyo...

Re: To scoop or not to scoop?

There was an incident where someone went through a large puddle with there RX-8 and completely flooded the engine internals to the point of hydro lock. Even towing it backwards and forwards failed to get it turning and I believe he sold it as it was, still locked up. This is an incredibly rare event...

Impossible to tell from your description but it’s normally air in the system that can give a noise.
Keep your eye on the fluid level

I would consider offside to be the right hand side ( drivers side )
I would replace the fronts as a pair or even all four, the rears are different and I believe unhanded

Re: Is it worth upgrading the front strut brace? Will it provide any noticeable improvement over the OEM?

It will have absolutely no effect on body roll
It’s unlikely to have any effect whatsoever as the RX-8 chassis is very stiff anyway.
