Re: Exhaust Options

GSB had a racing beat cat-back on his R3. That was a very good sound but totally acceptable at low revs, nothing that'd annoy the neighbours unless you tried to.

Re: Guess what this does...

So long as I have the eco button on mine tells me to shift up or down in a manner that avoids getting the best mpg out of it, would that count? It's not the most helpful function I must admit.

Edited: presumed this was going to be located around Horsham, not owned by someone called Horsham. Berkshire makes it a bit too long a day.

Re: Smooth Track Driving

I'll add my name to thew list of don't do track days and am definitely not a fast driver. My favourite driving experience was a few years ago on a short afternoon driving course, my instructor opened up with a couple of laps of the track before handing over to me. The first lap was smooth and undram...

Re: pump or sump?

Whichever way you decide to do it don't forget that a lot of the oil will remain in the oil coolers and pipework leading in and out of them and won't get extracted. A lot of the DIY people on here do an initial change then another after some driving round so the old and new oil get chance to mix and...

Re: Tesco Momentum vs. Shell V-Power

With regards use of Ethanol my wife had a Focus 1.8 dual fuel on a 56 plate that was set to work for either normal or up to E85 fuel (not choice just happened to be the right age/model/price). That was a 2006 and the manual made mention that Ethanol had been used in fuels in low concentration for ma...

Re: rover fuel pump help

Makes sense Ray, used to do similar replacements in the Hornby trains and Scalextrix cars as a kid, brushes were always the first part to go and not difficult to replace (on those motors at least). If reconditioned pumps are available then spares must be available somewhere. Edit: must check dates o...

Big thanks to everyone who helped organise this, even without going on track it was a great day out and nice meeting some more members. Well done to all for the Best Club Stand win, hopefully some nice publicity from that as well.

I'm surprised by that but if it doesn't work I guess there's not much to be done. I've got the same invitation from our local dealer, might see if I can time a cabriolet for a sunny weekend!

Re: ****GreySilver Beast III**** // New Car 2020 or 2021 - P'82 >

Have a look at the new Countryman as well Nigel, it's a bit bigger and therefore slightly slower than the Clubman but for what you've said you'll need it for it should be more practical for very little sacrifice. That said an Evoque would be even better. We've had a couple of MINIs, both the 2nd gen...

I'm going to have to withdraw I'm afraid, my daughter's in a production of Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang for most of the week and my wife's already booked us tickets for the matinee on 29th. Booked for Tunerfest South though.

Re: New Vantage

I'm not sure how much of it's down to the colour which I'm not keen on, not for an Aston anyhow. The rest looks for me far better than the other latest generation Aston's I've seen, either the 177 or DB11 and a step newer than the old Vantage and other identikit models.

Re: Sensible new car (Vauxhall Astra)

Thanks Nigel, I'd have loved to have kept my Evolve but we just moved back to Eastbourne from Bexhill and went from a nice in and out gravel drive to a double drive way and no room for a car in either garage. We're collecting a new puppy tomorrow which'll bring us to three dogs and it was my turn fo...

Used to regularly see 3 of them parked around Bexhill when we were over there, one lovely the other two looking less frequently washed than mine which is saying something. I'll look out for Brilliant Blacks!

Sensible new car (Vauxhall Astra)

So after a change to my wife's car I needed something that'll fit the dogs in the boot and unfortunately don't have room on the drive any more for an extra car so the RX-8 has gone and been replaced with a Vauxhall Astra which is surprisingly nice. It's currently in need of a good wash again but her...

Re: Only 705 RX-8 R3's Left !!

The rate of decline for the normal 231/192 models is astonishing, 900/5400 and 600/3200 ish gone in a year. Not many of the 192s in particular seem to be being SORNed either - no real growth in the number off the road last year. I seem to see quite a few round this little bit of the South Coast but ...

Any view on either heading up or back from the Southern side of the M25 in a single trip? It's something I'd love to try but taking a week off almost to do it at a time that the daughter will be in school is unlikely to fly with the wife whilst I may be able to sneak a long weekend. Google Maps sugg...

Another Car Am Fully Insured To Drive.......

Looks like I'm going to be minus the RX-8 again due to a need for a load space rather than a boot (extra dog joining the family) and I must admit a V40 d4 (0-62 in 7.0 seconds, £0 road tax and rather good economy) was high on the list especially with the nice LCD dash that comes with the R-Design. M...

Cheers guys. Sounds like I'll try the Autosol first and maybe get some oven/carbon cleaner if that fails to get it off properly. Left it a bit late for the Surf City cleaner.
