Re: Hachiroku's 40th Anniversary

Interesting to see that oil as Comma are not very forth coming with an oil recommendation for the RX-8 when I questioned this with Comma they said it was due to the fact that Mazda stipulate a mineral oil only ie no synthetic`s etc, I shall keep that oil in mind for possible future use. Vehicle Warn...

If they are D585`s that is a conversion kit and Magnecor leads will do nicely to go with them. :thumleft:

Re: New Forum, New Car!

Thanks all, Tyre change is on the cards as it's got cheapo Chinese ones on at the mo. It has had new coils and leads, I forget what the guy said they were tho! It is difficult spending if you think its not needed but if the previous owner has fitted cheap Chinese tyres then chances are that its the...

:welcome: and congrat`s on your new acquisition. Have a read up on the Buyers Guide if you haven`t already its up there ^^^^^ on the header. Without going into too much detail with regard to "the correct oil" read up here Oil101 for newbies and go by that for now. :thumleft: Then when time...

Re: Potentially useful

Each to their own but my RX-8 oil filling kit consists of 5 litres of Shell Helix 10w 40 and a 1 litre bottle then when required I put 1/2 litre in the 1 litre bottle and top up the engine its easy to pour in and no chance of over filling and more importantly no funnels etc to clean afterwards! :-k ...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

I honestly cannot see any difference using E10 fuel the performance seems to be the same I cannot speak for any fuel consumption change as I have always worked on the basis that with the RX-8 I drive it and when it needs fuel I put more in it and then continue to drive it. :race: all I know is that ...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

All cars will also have a switch or setting to disable the speed limit or set it at any level desired. Having it set automatically is I think considered too dangerous. eg: motorway road works with an average speed limit or Smart motorways still show as 70 mph on my Google Earth sat nav so unless th...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

Time to get working on my patented GPS blocker that fits any car and sends a dummy signal that I'm just off to the shops at 29 mph all the time Not wishing to jump the gun but put me down for a couple please with further orders to follow! Next years EU regulation that all new cars sold in the EU wi...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

One thing for sure increased E10 fuel cost is just the tip of the iceberg with a potential scheme for a road usage charge being considered EV`S are going to ultimately be the target to recover lost fuel duty and VED charges - have just seen this with a third of households having no off street parkin...

Re: Help with diagnosing a whinging gearbox

From the Buyers Guide: Be aware! When presenting an RX-8 for an MOT you should inform the tester that the car is equipped with a LSD as it has now become apparent that some MOT stations are not aware that the car is so equipped (although that information should be available when the cars details are...

Re: Passenger door lock

Success! the passenger door is locking correctly again, as I suspected it wasn`t a lack of lubrication the motor was very weak hardly any power at all so I have had to replace the whole actuator assembly but now I have found a source of replacement motors although it is China so have ordered a coupl...

Re: Advice - wrong tyres fitted

Bridgestone recommend two tyres in 225/45/R18 91W and they are the Potenza Sport and the Turanza T005 but in terms of suitability for the RX-8 I don`t think either have been rated by owners on here. If the original tyres were 17 years old then presumably they would have been the OE Bridgestone REO40...

Re: New Car Ordered

Will this Porsche be fitted with a speed limiter  (sorry its an intelligent speed assistance (ISA) tool) as next year all cars sold in the EU will have them fitted and apparently this could be in the UK as well this is because the UK has retained most EU laws for new cars as it helps standard...

The truth isn`t out there!

Had a delivery yesterday by a young guy who was admiring my RX-8, he obviously liked his cars and he proceeded to tell me why its a shame they are so cheap and not a lot of good, apparently the problem is "because they rev to 9000 RPM the engines wear out quickly that is why they are so cheap a...

Re: DSC kicked in left corners only

I had this happen once it turned out that one of the rear REO50 Bridgestones had picked up a huge nail on the inside wall that had gone through and was trying to exit through the side wall on the other side of course you couldn`t see anything from outside but there was in fact "zero" air p...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

Also compatibility to run E10 applies to OE only so if you have changed parts then that may not apply and apparently the GOV check list is not that accurate either in its list of makes suitability. I checked with Draper if E10 will affect my 1 year old lawn mower - they have no answer they will have...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

Well in my case my Gennie is 10 years old, chainsaw 7 years old, hedge trimmer 5 years old, lawn mower 1 year old and some are OK with E10 some are not but they all will be OK with super unleaded.

Re: Stabiliser (drop) link change - 'take no prisoners!' method

That is what happened on this occasion the bottom nut came off without putting up a fight but the top nut I got it to about 3 mm from the end of the thread then it just wouldn`t move without turning the whole joint even with 2 pair of moles on it so the angle grinder came out to be honest it would h...

Re: Stabiliser (drop) link change - 'take no prisoners!' method

I merged my post into Phil`s topic. To be honest soaking with penetrating oil etc I could only move the top ball joint nut so far by clamping the ball of the joint with Moles it was solid with rust so I ended up cutting it off but as I have already explained pack the top nut with washers and it sho...

Replacing Drop Links

Having found myself having to replace the front N/S Drop Link although my car is only on 30K miles (the O/S broke a few years back) I don`t know about anyone else but I find the lower joint is easy with the nut coming off easily but the top is always difficult because the lower joint bolts through a...
