Re: What would you do?

Hybrid and Modern Turbocharged Engines
Some modern turbocharged and hybrid engines are specifically designed for low-viscosity oils like 0W30 to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. In such cases, using 5W30 instead of 0W30 may slightly impact performance and fuel economy. :-k

Re: What would you do?

No check the service receipt and the actual engine oil check sheet!

They bill me for 6 litres of 5W 30 and on the check list they have used 5.7 litres of 0W 30!

Its me isn`t it I just don`t understand how they are supposed to service a car!

Re: What would you do?

I read somewhere VW 507 00 is the preferred 5W 30 oil for a Diesel so its all about as clear as mud really! :-k

Nearly as clear as which oil you should use in an RX-8! :getmecoat:

Re: What would you do?

Dave - Opie quotes both 0W 30 and 5W 30 but I struggle a bit when the owners manual says the correct oil to use is stated on the label, also the Mobil website suggests the manufacturers correct oil is VW 504 00 (0W30) which is what they recommend and not 5W 30.

Re: What would you do?

To be honest I agree 5w 30 will probably be an acceptable alternative its just I would prefer an official guarantee from Cupra UK that is the case and not just a comment from the guy that changed the oil that all the oil is the same! :-k

Re: What would you do?

I'm probably one of those fussy buggers when I 've just paid £460 for a service I just like to know it's been done correctly thats why I stopped using Mazda dealers for servicing because they just couldn't do it correctly and I do it myself now - possibly the same way the Cupra will be going next ye...

Can anyone shed any light on this what would you do - I had my Cupra Forrmentor 1st oil service done last June by a local Cupra dealer and they used 0W 30 long life oil and now I have just had the second oil service done by another Cupra dealer and they have used Mobil 5w 30 oil - on the slam panel ...

I seem to recall in the past even a Mazda dealer was found to be selling counterfeit coils! :-k

A Mazda dealer fitted warranty replacement alloy wheels to my car which were my old alloys resprayed on the front to look new!

:welcome: EVA. Owning an RX-8 can be an affliction I`m afraid and after owning 4 now I still love it like I did when I bought the first 21 years ago and even now I look at my present car and it still ticks the right boxes although I don`t drive it every day when I do its still reminds me of the firs...

Why not have a go at painting them yourself its not difficult, minor scuffs can easily be dressed out and finished in black covers up a multitude of sins on a set of alloys and considerably cheaper! :-k

Has it by any chance been left standing in a pool of salty water most of its life - I hope that is not a case of "One day all RX-8`s will be this way"

There is also a 40th Anniversary with a "tilt-adjustable black leather handbrake leaver"

What`s one of them, was it an optional extra? :-k

Re: Spark plugs - weird mistake

If its any consolation using Mazda dealers for servicing, one dealer put the wrong oil in, another fitted the wrong filter and didn`t replace the dipstick and also damaged the drivers seat back, another filed the front brake pads down in an attempt to stop them squealing and then fitted them incorre...

Re: Why have 2 when you can have 3

The reason the sills rot is due to the roof drain channels that exit under the sills, owners don`t keep them clean so they get blocked and the carpets wet.

You will need one of these a trombone cleaner.
