Re: Carbon Fibre wrapping

Well the ongoing saga of changing the look of a pair of mirrors is not going according to plan, after resorting to plan B of carbon fibre covers that has failed as no stock now and its taken them over 2 weeks to decide that, so have decided to resurrect plan A wrapping them myself, it can`t be that ...

Re: EV the future ?

I wonder if one day soon you will see one of the car makeover programs like "Overhaulin" or "Counting Cars" where they take someone`s beloved Mustang or whatever and restore it but by removing the V8 and return it with an electric motor pointing out to the owner how much better i...

Re: EV the future ?

The Highway Code and the Green Cross Code especially for children does mention that listening for oncoming vehicles is advisable before attempting to cross the road I should imagine that judging the speed of an EV is more difficult without any noise. Perhaps they are both in need of revision on the ...

Re: EV the future ?

Amazing - a report from some experts somewhere or other has been number crunching accident statistics and they have decided that there is increasing numbers of pedestrians that are being hit by cars and electric cars are possibly being found to be more of a cause than fossil fueled cars or even hybr...

Re: Carbon Fibre wrapping

Mark - I know but they both would have to come off to do it and I didn`t fancy the other one breaking in taking them both off but there actually maybe a plan E - buy 2 new caps and get them dipped. :-k

Re: Carbon Fibre wrapping

It's taking a while for these wrapping pictures to come through Del  I did attempt it on the passenger mirror cap but being a bit of a novice I had decided it would be better to do it on a mirror cap off the car - mistake, plan A trying to hold a mirror cap with one hand whilst stretching ...

Re: Car with a meaning

What car do you drive at the moment, if you are planning a lengthy UK drive in an RX-8 be prepared for plenty of garage stops as the RX-8 was not designed to be an economical long distance cruiser, low compression is only an expensive issue if your RX-8 of choice actually has low compression so any ...

Re: Carbon Fibre wrapping

Even in warm weather I heat with a heatgun on low setting, so avoid snapping tags I waited for a warm day but made a mistake - on Youtube some one removed the mirror cap and reckoned it easily pulls off, the tags/clips are strong "you won`t break them", mine came off easy one side but wou...

Re: Carbon Fibre wrapping

WIP Mark - can`t decide what to do, if I wrap them the caps really need to come off and I`m a little concerned about the plastic tags that hold the caps on breaking, there are carbon fibre caps for £150 that fit over the top of the originals but what would they look like, or there are complete repla...

Volvo XC40 2 litre petrol or diesel AWD well thought of, I think they did a 40 20 40 seat split option.

I would quite happily take a cheap R3 like the one nutty has, gut and put a Tesla drive train in if I got free road tax and cheaper running home charging as my daily, then keep my rotary for weekends.
Too late that bubble is about to burst next year! #-o

Re: EV the future ?

To be perfectly honest Ian if I could buy a reasonably priced electric MIni the proper one not the BMW knock off I would have one just as a town car.
They do convert them but for really silly money.

What is there to not like!

I quite fancy one of these Citroen`s as a town runabout as it is the future :crybaby: obviously with a decent roll cage for some extra protection but for some additional performance maybe an uprated Mountfield 20 volt cordless motor! :-k

Carbon Fibre wrapping

I thought I would ask you very clever RX-8 owners as I have decided I am not happy with the black mirrors on my Formentor and so I thought a carbon fibre look would be different but its something I have never done before so have watched a couple of how to videos but it seems that as the mirrors are ...

Re: Latest technology sill repair

We once had an apprentice who had a few dents in his car and it just so happened his dad had some cement so he mixed some up and used that- it did last for a while until he had an accident and it dropped out.

It was his first car though!

how many years until we have 8s that only come out once a month for an event or show. With the ongoing climate change I couldn`t possibly take the RX-8 out that often - it would get wet! :-k There are a few cars you do see occasionally where I live which is a long country lane there is a TR6, 2 x M...

I would imagine the instant torque would be good for towing :)

This guy does a video on towing with an EV and it isn`t his own car so in theory neutral but I will add it was all flat terrain so no towing up hills!
