Re: Wanted: PZ suspension

Bilstein can rebuild the shock absorbers but the Eibach springs are not available and having flat bases are unique to the PZ suspension. (I may have the flat base info confused with the standard OE design, if so I am sure someone will correct me) Last time I checked Bilstein charge £80 - £100 + VAT...

Door actuator/lock

Has anyone got a dead door actuator/lock, I need one as I am working on a repair by replacing the motor & worm drive and I was using my own failed passenger unit but its quite complex mechanically and whilst fault finding its proving difficult to rebuild it so I need one I can use to check the d...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

I agree it does look like an additive push but there are issues with E10 being hygroscopic hence why non compliant cars may/will suffer problems also for any compliant cars: "It is a hygroscopic, which means it absorbs water from the atmosphere, leading to condensation in fuel tanks if the car ...

Re: Passenger door lock

My original plan was to do exactly that put together a how to do a repair as replacing the motor is easy enough as it just involves opening the the case remove the motor which just slots in then fit a replacement but whilst fault funding and taking mine apart the gearing in the mechanism has moved o...

Re: Breathing new life into an inherited RX-8

A split dust cover will be a fail I`m afraid the thought being water dirt etc gets in and with no lube the ball joint seizes then parts company.

Don`t get confused about the disc size the rears are 302 mm dia` on all cars you should have 303 mm dia` fronts. :-k

Re: Breathing new life into an inherited RX-8

It maybe the caliper is the same if the pads are the same size but if you have 303 mm discs it may be the caliper carrier is different to space the pads to suit the smaller disc.

Re: Breathing new life into an inherited RX-8

UK cars have 18" dia alloys and 323 mm diameter discs whereas some imports had 16" dia alloys and smaller 303 mm diameter discs to suit but the pads should be the same size for both discs which is 138/140 x 62 x 16mm, the pad size length varies slightly depending on manufacturer. You have ...

Interesting to see that oil as Comma are not very forth coming with an oil recommendation for the RX-8 when I questioned this with Comma they said it was due to the fact that Mazda stipulate a mineral oil only ie no synthetic`s etc, I shall keep that oil in mind for possible future use. Vehicle Warn...

If they are D585`s that is a conversion kit and Magnecor leads will do nicely to go with them. :thumleft:

Thanks all, Tyre change is on the cards as it's got cheapo Chinese ones on at the mo. It has had new coils and leads, I forget what the guy said they were tho! It is difficult spending if you think its not needed but if the previous owner has fitted cheap Chinese tyres then chances are that its the...

Re: Potentially useful

Each to their own but my RX-8 oil filling kit consists of 5 litres of Shell Helix 10w 40 and a 1 litre bottle then when required I put 1/2 litre in the 1 litre bottle and top up the engine its easy to pour in and no chance of over filling and more importantly no funnels etc to clean afterwards! :-k ...

I honestly cannot see any difference using E10 fuel the performance seems to be the same I cannot speak for any fuel consumption change as I have always worked on the basis that with the RX-8 I drive it and when it needs fuel I put more in it and then continue to drive it. :race: all I know is that ...

Re: Low emission E10 fuel

All cars will also have a switch or setting to disable the speed limit or set it at any level desired. Having it set automatically is I think considered too dangerous. eg: motorway road works with an average speed limit or Smart motorways still show as 70 mph on my Google Earth sat nav so unless th...

From the Buyers Guide: Be aware! When presenting an RX-8 for an MOT you should inform the tester that the car is equipped with a LSD as it has now become apparent that some MOT stations are not aware that the car is so equipped (although that information should be available when the cars details are...
