Battery saver

I have a Gunsen battery saver which I have always used on various cars basically you plug it into the mains and into the cigarette lighter socket and it maintains everything whilst changing the battery but the 12 volt socket has to be live with the ignition off and on newer cars its usually off. Now...

Battery Registration

The ongoing saga of Cupra Formentor ownership. Well so much for hopeless Cupra dealers help yet again, after nearly 2 weeks to get a poor battery checked as it is under warranty I took my Formentor in today and after an hour as I waited they informed me that they need to put the battery on charge fo...

Re: New kuro owner in Leeds - MOT passed!!!

MoT passed with a couple of advisories in line with it being stood for a couple of years. Just a bit of advice check out the ignition coils, leads and plugs make sure they are sound as duff components can wreak havoc with a Rotary - OE items were not so good, there are cheap Mazda copies of coils, ...

Re: What is the worst smell you RX-8 made and what caused it?

I had bought my first new RX-8 in 2004 and I hadn`t had it very long, I paid a visit to my brothers house which has a long steep drive down the side of the house of course down I went, when I went to leave it was dark and as I reversed up the drive having to slip the clutch slightly and being a bit ...

Re: Faraday key pouches

My Formentor is the same, I am perfectly capable of driving a car and I don`t want or need most of these "driver aids" and it wouldn`t be so bad if you could turn off the unwanted ones but once you turn the ignition off they default to on. I recently had a similar unexpected and unwanted s...

Re: Faraday key pouches

I fitted a Tracker to my Formentor It costs £60 pa and it works well it always shows where the car has travelled each journey and where it is parked and that is relayed to my phone, it also shows the state of the battery charge which is handy to know. :thumleft:

Re: Faraday key pouches

Protecting a car from theft is not easy due to advances in technology, I have used a Farady pouch for the 2 x Cupra`s I have had, the first I bought was hardly doing anything when eventually curiosity moved me see how effective it was - it wasn`t so I bought another which I use now and it works well...

Re: Bright headlights!

I have tried various LED bulbs in several cars and I find they just don`t work correctly they are bright but poor intensity, - in the RX-8 I have a 6000K HID kit in the dipped beam and fast start 6000K ballasts and bulbs for the main beams and it makes a good improvement over the Halogen bulbs even ...

Re: 2025 Road Tax rates - Released

I missed that in last weeks budget - road tax for band K from April 2026 = up from £415 to £430.

Band M = up from £760 to £790.

Luckily after my big win on the lottery last Saturday the £30 will cover the increase to the RX-8 road tax - in one hand etc!

Basically there is a rev limiter a fuel cut off so if you red line it you cannot over rev it.

Re: R3 Prices

The problem with RX-8 sales is always going to be the price of road tax post March 2006 £760 pa :crybaby: along with not exactly being the most economical fuel wise whilst the RX7 a paltrey £220 pa. Lets put it this way I love the RX-8 and have still got my 40th after I bought it new 17 years ago an...

Re: Is series 2 a lot more reliable?

Although low mileage on 30K miles I have been driving my S1 40th Anniversary from new for 17 years next month and in that time for reliability apart from better ignition parts which were replaced just after I bought it, the usual servicing and two batteries I had one front drop link go I replaced bo...

Well steering sorted now - sort of, I jacked the car up both wheels off the deck and no real resistance lock to lock the steering wheel did spin fairly easily then followed a good dosing spray of Muc-Off All-Weather Motorcycle Chain Lube in the steering UJ. :race: Anyway out for a test drive and the...

Steering problem?

This may sound a bit strange coming from an RX-8 owner after owning 4 over 21 years but I don`t drive my 40th Anniversary as much as I used to since taking ownership of my Cupra but when I do take the RX-8 out the steering feels noticeably heavier than the Cupra and I am fully aware of possible lube...
