Re: fuel economy 101

...or just go single rotor turbo.

Just the one rotor's worth of fuel at all times, just more being sucked through when you need it. Simples

This could be why all major car makers are making smaller engines with turbos........

Re: Struggling to start hot after rebuild

Just a thought that it may be running a richer fuel map during run in......

Do RR make it run a different fuel map whilst running in a new rebuild? ...and then take it back to normal at the 1000 mile service point??

^^this is a guess, I've no idea if they would or not^^

Asked the wife to drive the car

Coming up for 5 years ownership and she's never driven it.

Her observations: "I like the pedal position and the view down the bonnet....and it steered nicely, but it's noisier than mine"

Wheels checked and no kerbing [-o< :thumleft:

Re: Fantastic Tyre Review Test

I quite rarely feel as though I really 'require' such levels of performance from a tyre. Every-day driving I am far from pushing the laws of physics. Even when being quite brisk going about my business, I must be quite a margin away from exceeding the levels of available grip. This is why I went fo...

Re: Am I looking at an Engine Rebuild?

When your car goes into Mazda, even for the simplest of jobs or recalls, they do "standard checks" on the car. During these checks on my car, they failed to reconnect an HT lead which led to lumpy running, cutting out on hot start etc. Reconnected HT lead, all good. Check your HT leads are connected...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????

Last figs I found suggested that the PZ wheels were around the 8kg mark (memory seems to say 7.9kg, but I can't remember where I saw it). Deffo lighter than the R3 wheels ...but then you need more tyre wall as they're 18s, so weight loss possibly negated :-k ...unless you go v low profile on 18s......

So it looks like I've been [very?] lucky with mine (assuming Big Pete uses the standard testing procedure), as his figures are at [or normalised to] 250 rpm.

Re: RX8 Evolve

Yes it would de-value the car, but it's easily rectified when it's time to sell on with a wheel refurb and oem badges. In the meantime have it how you want it. Current values are in the toilet, future values may make the toilet seat at some point but don't hold your breath. The Green lobby will win ...
