Will66's Silver RX8 Fast Road/Track Mods now known as #project66
Well since people have been posting a lot of stuff here I thought it would be a bit different if I posted a few of the iterations my car has been through in the last few years.
Here she is the day I bought her.
Within a few days I'd taken her to Snetterton for a trackday, I reckon the 8 is about as fast a car as you can enjoy on the public road without putting your license in jeopardy regularly. Unfortunately I've found them as addictive as Crack and it's driven my mods from then on!
Obviously there were a few mods on the way, here it is in an intermediate stage in mid-2008. You can see the powder coated wheels and the Borla exhaust, there's a Blitz SUS intake on there too.

Re: Will66's Silver RX8 Fast Road/Track Mods
Early 2009 was a dark time in my RX8 ownership, the engine died, taking the Borla and Highflow cat with it.
However good things were afoot, just before the death of the motor, I got a set of Cusco Zero II Coilovers and a Cusco Econ Controller. Also a Cusco strut brace and HKS Camp II OBDII Display went on as well as a High Flow cat!
Just after the new engine went in but before I fitted the new exhaust I went to Bovingdon Tank Training Centre for a Charity Trackday and got this shot. It was alarmingly noisy without a silencer. You can see the Lockwoods on here as well.
This is what the Borla and highflow sounded like.

After the death of the Borla I fancied a change, so I got a Quad exit Racing Beat Exhaust. Not as noisy as the Borla but a nice sound. I also changed the Blitz intake for a Racing Beat REVi intake and Duct, bit quieter but good flow.
The most recent mod you can see is the Dotz Touge wheels. I like the Black on Silver look of them.

Re: Will66's Silver RX8 Fast Road/Track Mods
Here it is in final specification, the stock wheels are on because I had Toyo R888 trackday tyres on, it's got awesome grip like this! I also got a personalised plate for my birthday, T28 WEC, which is a letter my age at the time and my initials.
This is what the Racing Beat and Highflow sounds like, bit of flame too!

And this is what I like doing with it. This was Japfest last year, I've got a passenger (ryuga) in the car so don't think I am talking to myself!

Re: Will66's Silver RX8 Fast Road/Track Mods
You have to be within about 3 feet to get melted and if you're that close at the speeds I like to proceed at when making flames then melted bumper is the least of your worries!

By the way Will, do those fab flames have any negative (melty) effects on your rear bumper?

Re: Will66's Silver RX8 Fast Road/Track Mods
Not that I've seen. I've got quite good clearance between the bumper and the exhaust because it's an R3 exhaust and it pokes out lower than the Series 1 exhaust did. Also the flames get sucked into the low pressure behind the car at speed and away from the plastic bits.

Re: Will66's Silver RX8 Fast Road/Track Mods
Just got back from Snetterton. A lot of fun and well worth the trip. Couple of things worth mentioning. I fitted a set Racing Brake XT960 pads for this track day and they're great, loads of bite, no fade and minuscule pad wear compared to a set of ET500s. Also the Hankook Tyres have been on for about 3000 road miles and done four track days and still have about 4.5 mm of tread left all round. They've got plenty of grip and aren't totally rubbish in the wet, better than RE040s by quite a way. If you can find them then Hankooks are a great track day tyre.
